Weekly Update 02

Hello everyone!

This is my second weekly update and I have a few things to share.

This week, although there have been no significant updates to the overall content, a few changes have been made to pave the way for future developments. Let me start by discussing the first item on the list: stats. The previous stat modifier system only allowed for two types of modifiers, namely base and multiplier. The base modifier simply added something to the base stat, while the multiplier stacked additively and then acted as a multiplier. This system had limitations, especially when the percentage of multiplier was already high, as the new multiplier would not make a significant difference.

The new stat modifier system is based on one of my favorite games, Path of Exile. It features 5 types of modifiers:

  • Added: A classic flat modifier that is directly added to the base stat.
  • Increased: A multiplier that stacks additively with other increases, for example, 50% increase + 70% increase = 120% total increase, resulting in a 2.2 (1 + 120 / 100) multiplier!
  • Reduced: Similar to increased, except it reduces the stat instead of increasing it.
  • More: An independent multiplier that does not stack with other mores or increases, for example, 50% more + 50% = 2.25 multiplier (1.5 * 1.5).
  • Less: Similar to more except it reduces the stat.

Tooltips: In the previous version, some tooltips were missing. Most of them have been added this week, including demon skills, generator upgrades, wizard spells, and wizard skills (although there aren't many of either).

Demon tree / stats: They have been refactored to include almost all stats that affect the demon, which are now shown in the skill tree panel instead of being displayed all the time.

Wizard: I have begun developing the spell system, which will incorporate spell slots. Initially, you will have only one spell slot and one spell available. In order to cast spells, you will need to use one of the spells to "condense light". Condensed light serves as a pseudo-mana, at the start, you will only be able to generate condensed light using the "condense" spelland will only have a few spell slots. This means that one slot will likely be dedicated to the condense spell. As you progress, you will unlock additional slots and methods for generating condensed light. More potent spells will require more condensed light, and some talents will increase the cost even further for a stronger spell effect! This system is still a big WIP, so most of the mechanics are not yet included.

Finally, I have fixed the annoying bug that caused the upgrade cards to disappear and some other bugs.

This week changes:

  • Remaining tooltips have been added: demon skills, generator upgrades.
  • The stat modifier system has been expanded using a similar system to Path of Exile
  • Next week, I will start adding wizard skills and continue the spell system.
  • A few more demon skill

Have a great day/night, and see you next week!
